Captain's Log: Day 10 Post-BotBall
As far as I am concerned the college football season started today and it was a good day. For as strange as it us to see so many teams already having a record in an albeit late week one I will shrug it off and chalk it up to time being a flat circle.
Anyway, let's recap the day.
Wake is Great, love to see a ranked win from a team I honestly don't care about but enjoy the fans of.
Spoilermakers are a treat to watch.
Rutgers is a team? Sorry not sorry Sparty, do better.
Is there a way to lake the posts while practicing social distancing in Evanston?
Penn State defeats themselves after a play that is completely on the coaching staff, I hope that kid doesn't get flack.
Some state college down in Ohio did alright, eh, seems like a fluke to me.
And last but not least on my radar the Little Brown Jug is in possession of the Maize and Blue. YLTSI
For as many games at Tigers Stadium or Comerica Park I have been to and how special they have been, to me the crisp autumn air means watching schools (some of whom have rivalries as fierce and bitter as any you will see in pro sports) battle it out on the gridiron.
Sure, the World Series may be on, but the shortened season has me feeling weird about the whole thing and I can't say I am terribly invested in it this year, and not just because I am not fond of the Dodgers and Tampa has been dead to me since they inexplicably changed their name from the Devil Rays which was probably the coolest name to me growing up.
Anyway, not much else to say other than Go Blue, Hail to the Victors, and Ryan Day is a pushover for apologizing for scoring a TD. What happened to “Because I couldn't go for 3”? Never apologize for scoring, the greatest rivalry in all of sports wasn't forged from coaches saying sorry for putting points on the board.
